Important Event Information for the Walk & 5K

We are delighted that you’ll be joining us for The Arc of Monmouth’s largest community fundraising event to benefit individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Saturday promises to be a wonderful day filled with fun, friendship, food, music, games – plus a beautiful walk and run along the ocean!
See below for all of the important information you need to know.

Parking lots on Ocean Avenue are FREE at this time of year. The closest lot is located on 4th Ave. and Ocean Ave. near the Wonder Bar. There is another lot between 2nd & 3rd Ave. and Ocean Avenue, across from the Silverball Museum. PLEASE NOTE: There is metered parking on Ocean Ave. and near the boardwalk with rates of $2 per hour and need to be renewed after 3 hours.
This is a rain or shine event! As of today, the forecast is calling for plenty of sunshine with a high of 57 degrees. Please dress warmly, as it will be cooler by the ocean! Dress in layers that feel the most comfortable to you while running. Convention Hall is heated!

- 7:45 am – 5K registration opens inside Convention Hall
- 8:30 am – 5K run begins on the boardwalk
- 9:30 am - 5K awards inside Convention Hall
- 10:00 am – Walk registration opens
- 11:00 am – Walk begins on the boardwalk
- 11:45 am – Free BBQ, live music & carnival games inside Convention Hall!
RUNNER INFO + FAQS
Q: Where do I pick up my bib and t-shirt?
You will receive your bib and t-shirt the morning of at the check-in table inside Convention Hall. Check-in begins at 7:45AM. NOTE: There will be no “early pick-up” on Friday this year. Bibs and t-shirts are available on race day only.
Q: What is the race route?
This year’s boardwalk route begins outside of Convention Hall and runs south along the ocean through beautiful Asbury Park, Ocean Grove and Bradley Beach and back again. Check out the race route map here: http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/1405966465.
Q: Will there be a bag drop area?
There will not be an attended bag-drop area in Convention Hall. Please allow extra time to lock valuables in your car during the run.
Q: Will there be water stations along the route?
There will be a water station on the boardwalk in Ocean Grove – at approximately the half-way point.
Q: How does race timing work, and how do I get my results?
Split Second Racing will handle timing, using bib chips. You can see your results and a photo – plus all 5K results -- instantly once you cross the finish line! You will also get an email of your results. Or, keep your phone handy and visit: raceforum.com/2017/arc.html. We will have QR codes directing you to this link posted around Convention Hall for your convenience.
Q: What happens after I finish my run?
Make your way back inside Convention Hall for free Starbucks coffee and bagels provided by Costco. When the last runner has finished (approximately 9:15AM), we will hold a short awards presentation inside Convention Hall. Live band begins at 10:30 am.
WALKER INFO + FAQS
Q: What time should I get there and where should I go?
Registration and check-in opens at 10:00AM inside Convention Hall for walkers. There will be balloons and signs welcoming you inside. The Walk begins at 11:00AM with Tillie the Clown and the Asbury Park High School marching band bringing walkers from Convention Hall to the boardwalk.
Q: I am on a team, what should I do?
If you and your team are pre-registered, please check in at the team registration table inside Convention Hall.
Q: How long is the Walk, and is there a distance requirement?
We will enjoy a walk with a view of the ocean that follows a similar path to the 5K, running south from Convention Hall through Asbury Park, Ocean Grove and Bradley Beach. However, there is no requirement on the distance you must walk.
All registered walkers and runners are invited to our exciting after-party inside Convention Hall! When you check-in, you will receive an all-access wristband for the day's activities, including:
- Hot dogs, sausage and peppers, soup, snacks from the 17th Masonic District
- Ice cream compliments of Days of Ocean Grove
- Live music by the Wait Till Friday Band and DJ Nicky
- Carnival games, prizes and photo booth fun
- Free all-day entry into the Silverball Museum Arcade on the boardwalk
