On May 7, The Arc of Monmouth's Day Programs made their annual trip to ShoreTown Ballpark in Lakewood to cheer on the Jersey Shore Blueclaws. This annual outing is heavily anticipated by program participants and Wednesday's game did not disappoint! Fears of rain were unfounded as the weather ended up being the perfect weather to enjoy baseball!
Participants watched the Jersey Shore Blueclaws take on the Aberdeen Ironbirds in a close game that came down to the wire. Unfortunately, the Blueclaws lost 1-0, however they were never out of the game, and neither were our participants! They were cheering enthusiastically for the home team all the way to the bottom of the 9th inning where the Blueclaws seemed to be putting a rally together to win. Despite the game being low scoring, it was an especially great time to the many baseball fans in our programs who were treated to a battle of excellent pitching and fielding.
The Arc of Monmouth was welcomed to ShoreTown Ballpark as part of the Blueclaws education day. Numerous schools and other organizations for people with disabilities were also present. We want to thank the Jersey Shore Blueclaws for being a presence in the community committed to inclusion and for accommodating our day programs over the years. We are already looking forward to next year's outing!
