With the selfless dedication of staff and volunteers and donations from people like you, The Arc of Monmouth remains the largest provider of vital I/DD resources, services, and support in Monmouth County.
Meeting the need
The Arc of Monmouth fills the gap by providing services that meet the basic needs of our participants, including supported housing, healthcare, case management, support for caregivers and families, life skills training, social and emotional support, and independent living programs.
Yet, meeting basic needs is not enough…
Our health services are designed to improve outcomes for our participants who benefit from health care management, outpatient psychiatric services, primary care physicians, and health care coordination.
Day Habilitation services provide adults of all abilities opportunities to develop new skills. We offer classes to strengthen and develop the whole mind and body, including life and social skills.
WOC is a community vocational program, where individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities build and strengthen work skills by doing real jobs subcontracted from local businesses.
The Arc of Monmouth offers a wide range of recreational pursuits for our participants to enjoy in fun social settings including sporting, cultural, and social activities such as bowling, yoga, and even trips on cruise ships.
We provide residential services offering various levels of support and supervision, depending on the needs of each resident. These include group homes, supervised apartments, and supportive living.
The Arc of Monmouth aims to provide support services to people living in the community to enable them to live as independently as possible in their own housing. Each individual is assigned a support worker.
The Arc of Monmouth offers participants a 3-year Keep Achieving (KACH) college program with Brookdale Community College that provides academic opportunities to study beyond high school.
TAZ offers pre-vocational training classes and community inclusion classes to promote success and learning opportunities, including work readiness, technology drama, and dance.
Advocacy is an essential part of supporting people with I/DD. In partnership with other Arc chapters, we are continually pushing for legislation to protect and improve the rights of people with I/DD and their families.
The Arc has long recognized that people with I/DD deserve the opportunity to live full and productive lives in their communities and beyond. That’s why we offer a host of enrichment services and activities to promote learning, wellness, companionship, and fun. These programs include recreation, sports, education, arts and crafts, and life skills.
Helping with education and employment
For some participants, living a fulfilling life means enjoying the benefits that only come with meaningful employment and further education. Unfortunately, these opportunities are also rarely available to people with I/DD in the wider community. The Arc of Monmouth, therefore, builds bridges to college education and employment opportunities.
We provide specialized vocational training to prepare our participants to enter the job market. That includes the basic vocational skills necessary for work and techniques to overcome the barriers people with disabilities face entering the job market.
For our participants interested in furthering their love of learning beyond high school, we partnered with Brookdale Community College to provide a 3-year college program.
Advocating for rights
Our work does not stop there. We are continually lobbying for the rights of people with I/DD locally and nationally.
On an individual level, our staff and case managers advocate for the rights of individuals who may not be aware of or have been denied financial and support services they are entitled to.
