Accessing Appropriate Housing & Creative Housing Options

Tuesday, March 24, 2020
7:00 pm8:30 pm
The Arc Center, 1158 Wayside Road, Tinton Falls, NJ 07712

This event is cancelled and will be rescheduled for a future date. Please make sure you register (click RSVP above) so we can email you once a new date is organized.

Presented by Attorneys from Hinkle, Prior, & Fischer, P.C.

One of the most common concerns of parents is, “where will my child live when I’m gone?” This workshop will explain the housing options offered by the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD), and how to access them. However, DDD housing is not the only option for parents. Increasingly, families are looking beyond traditional group homes and supervised apartments for innovative housing supports for their loved ones with developmental disabilities. While 'self-directed' services hold great promise, many families find that funding is inadequate, and the burden of administration and management of services is overwhelming. Attendees will learn about options for funding residential services, how to safeguard services for a son or daughter and how to avoid common pitfalls in working with state agencies to obtain effective out-of-home residential services. This 90-minute presentation includes a Q&A for attendees.

Attorneys at Hinkle, Prior & Fischer, P.C., have over 70 years of combined experience providing specialized legal services to families of children and adults with a wide range of disabilities, and seniors. We have argued many of the precedent setting cases affecting individuals with disabilities in New Jersey and Pennsylvania

Presenter: Ian Kansky, Strategies for Wealth

"Estate planning" may bring to mind families with great wealth, but in the context of special needs planning, it simply means organizing your estate -whatever it's size, to meet the needs of the entire family as efficiently and economically as possible. The goal for families with a member requiring special consideration is to create and provide a more certain future for the individual with special needs, as well as for the rest of the family. Planning early gives you time to get the right advice and to develop and implement an appropriate plan. Get started with this Zoom information session. Click the link below to register to attend.

Step Up for The Arc Virtual Walk & 5K

Saturday, September 12, 2020

The 2020 Step Up for The Arc Walk & 5K will be going virtual this year to make sure we keep everyone safe and healthy. Instead of joining together on the boardwalk, we invite everyone to sign up, wear your Arc 2020 Step Up T-shirt, and walk on your favorite trail, in your neighborhood, or even a treadmill. You pick the distance. You pick the location. We'll all be "Coming Together While Staying Apart".

This year's event will look a little different, but the goal remains the same: to come together, raise awareness, celebrate inclusion, and to raise critical funding to support The Arc of Monmouth's programs and services.

We're going to include as many fun elements as possible, plus a few new things. There will be plenty of personalized shout-outs to participants, a photo contest, and even a new race option: the 100 Mile Challenge!

Visit www.arcofmonmouth.org/walk for more details.

If you have any questions, message us on Facebook, email development@arcofmonmouth.org or call 732-493-1919 ext. 125.
